Privacy Policy
The short version
We collect as little as we can. Some of our apps have no accounts and no sign-in at all. Where an app does offer an account, we hold your name and email address, and nothing else about you. We use Apple's own services rather than third-party trackers.
We do not sell your data, share it with data brokers, show advertising, or track you across other apps and websites. You can ask us to delete everything we hold at any time and we will do it.
1. Who we are
Romisoft Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17412722. Our registered office is Suite RA01, 195-197 Wood Street, London, E17 3NU, United Kingdom.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, Romisoft Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at admin@romisoft.app.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to the mobile and web applications published by Romisoft Ltd, and to this website at romisoft.app.
Individual applications may collect less than is described here. Where an app differs, we say so inside the app and on its App Store page, and the privacy label shown on the App Store is specific to that app.
3. What we collect
Our apps differ, and some collect nothing at all. This section describes the most we ever collect. The App Store privacy label on each app is the authority for what that particular app does, and where an app collects less, its label says so.
Account information
Not every app has accounts. Where one does and you create an account, we hold your name and email address. That is the whole of it. We ask for an account only so that your settings and purchases can follow you to a new device.
Where an app offers Sign in with Apple, you may choose to hide your real email address. Apple then gives us a relay address instead, and we never see the underlying one. That is entirely your choice and the app works the same either way.
Usage information
Where an app reports usage to us, we record which screens are opened, which features are used, and how often, and we use it to decide what to build and fix. It is tied to your installation rather than to you as a person, and it is never combined with your account to build a profile of you. Some of our apps report nothing at all.
Crash and diagnostic reports
Where an app has crash reporting enabled, we receive a report when something goes wrong. These contain technical information such as the device model, the operating system version, and where in the code the failure happened. They do not contain the contents of your data.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your location.
- We do not collect your contacts, photos, calendar, or health data.
- We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not buy personal data about you from anyone else.
4. Device permissions
Some applications ask for a device permission in order to work. iOS always asks you first, and you can withdraw a permission at any time in the Settings app.
An app that helps you manage phone use will ask for Screen Time access. That permission covers only the apps you choose to link, and tells the app nothing about any other app.
What is recorded varies by app, and it is less than most people expect. Apple gives developers an opaque reference to each app you pick, so our apps cannot read that app's name or open it. Apple also does not pass usage durations to app code: an app can be told that a limit you set has been reached, or that a linked app was opened on a given day, but the underlying figures stay inside Apple's own sealed reporting view and never reach us.
It does not let the app, or us, see anything inside those apps: not your messages, your accounts, your browsing, or any content. What is recorded stays on your device.
5. Information our apps look up
Some of our apps look things up on your behalf. Where they do, the request goes from your device directly to the service concerned and does not pass through us.
- Search and lookup. Where an app helps you find something, by matching what you type against known products, services or media, the text you type may be sent to a third-party search service, such as Apple's iTunes Search service. That service receives a search term and nothing that identifies you, and no copy reaches us. Where an app works this way, this is the only thing you type that leaves your device.
- Public reference data. An app may download public information it needs in order to work, such as published exchange rates. These requests go to a fixed address and contain nothing about you or what you use the app for.
- Text in images you provide. Where an app reads text from a photo or screenshot you give it, that recognition runs entirely on your device. The image is never uploaded.
Which of these apply varies by app, and for many of our apps none of them do.
6. This website
This website uses our own analytics rather than a third-party service. It is built to avoid identifying you:
- No cookies are set and nothing is written to local storage. There is therefore no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
- Your IP address is never stored. A visitor is counted using a one-way hash of the IP address, browser type, a secret value, and the current date. That hash cannot be reversed, and because the date is part of it, it changes every midnight. Nobody can be followed from one day to the next.
- Referring addresses are reduced to a hostname before being stored, so search terms never reach our database.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, the analytics does not run at all.
We record which pages are viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from at country level, and whether the device is a phone, tablet or desktop.
7. Why we process it, and our lawful basis
- To provide the service you asked for
- Holding your account so you can sign in, restore purchases, and sync settings. Lawful basis: performance of a contract with you.
- To keep the software working
- Crash reports and diagnostics, so faults can be found and fixed. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, namely keeping our products functional and secure.
- To improve what we build
- Usage information and website analytics, so we know which features matter. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, namely improving our products, balanced against your privacy by collecting the minimum and not identifying you.
- To meet our legal obligations
- Keeping business records where the law requires it. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
8. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
We rely on Apple for the App Store, for in-app purchases, for Sign in with Apple, and for crash reporting. When you buy a subscription, Apple takes the payment. We never see your card details. Apple's handling of your information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.
9. Where it is stored
Our infrastructure is operated in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area wherever possible. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, that transfer is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
10. How long we keep it
- Account information: for as long as your account exists, then deleted.
- Crash reports: up to 12 months.
- Usage and website analytics: up to 24 months in aggregate form.
- Records we must keep by law, such as transaction records: for as long as the law requires.
11. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive your data in a portable form;
- withdraw consent, where we relied on consent.
Email admin@romisoft.app and we will respond within one month. We will not charge you and we will not ask why.
12. Deleting your data
Applications that offer accounts include a way to delete your account from inside the app. Deleting your account removes your name, your email address, and the settings held against it.
If you have taken out a subscription, it belongs to your Apple ID, not to your Romisoft account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, and we are not able to cancel it for you. Cancel it in the Settings app on your device, under your Apple ID, before deleting your account.
You can also email admin@romisoft.app and ask us to delete everything.
13. Children
Our applications are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Where a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
15. Contact and complaints
Questions about this policy, or about your data, go to admin@romisoft.app, or by post to Romisoft Ltd, Suite RA01, 195-197 Wood Street, London, E17 3NU, United Kingdom.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
